2012 Coaching Staff
Look for yourself and you will see that from from top to bottom, Goldenwest VBC has arguably one of the best coaching staffs in the country. The coaching staff at Goldenwest VBC has amassed a staff that includes a former Olympian, an assistant to the National Team Program, State and CIF-SS winning coaches and more. We are very pleased to announce the coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season:
| Jason Dillard - Club Director/Head Coach 16 Asics |
Phone Number:Email: Jdillard@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: This is Jason's 7th season as the Club Director of Goldenwest Volleyball Club and 8th year as a coach at the club. Jason has over 12 years of coaching experience in College, High School as well as Club volleyball. He is currently in his fifth season as the Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at Fullerton College where he is also an instructor. Prior to Fullerton Jason spent a year and a half as an Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach at the University of California Riverside. The rest of his coaching experience came from both High Schools and various clubs. Most notably would be 6 years at Esperanza (his alma mater) and 1 at Mater Dei (won CIF and 2nd in State) as well as clubs like Santa Monica Beach, The LBC, and Golden West Volleyball Clubs. Jason has been a part of teams that have won 3 CIF Championships, 1 State Final and also a bronze medal with The LBC Volleyball Club in 2001. He has also worked at the University of Rhode Island, UC Riverside and Stanford Volleyball Camps. |
| Kevin Hitt - Assistant Club Director/Head Coach 18 Asics |
Phone Number: (562) 244-7156Email: khitt@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Kevin starts his 11th year here at Goldenwest VBC and is in his fifth season as girls' volleyball coach at Canyon High School while simultaneously assisting the USA Women's National Team. Before taking those positions, Kevin served as an assistant coach at Long Beach State University from 2004 until 2006. Prior to that, Kevin was the head girls' volleyball coach at Mayfair High School ('98-'04) where he coached 7 consecutive Suburban League titles with a league record of 80-0 over the 7 years. During that span at Mayfair, Kevin's players were named Suburban League MVP 6 times and had 30 All Suburban-League players. Kevin's past includes a 7 year run at Ichiban Volleyball Club, which featured players such as Misty May, Katie Olsolvsky, Heather Bown, Heidi Illustre, Jessica Sudduth, Jennifer Fopma, and Robin Lewis. Kevin claimed his own Bronze medal with Ichiban in the 18's Division at Jr. Nationals in 2000 and a Silver medal with the Goldenwest 17 Asics team in 2005. Kevin's other collegiate experience includes assistant coaching stints at Dominquez Hills '99-'00, Rice University '94, and Northern Michigan University '91-'93 where the Wildcats won the NCAA Div II National Championship in '93. During his time as a collegiate assistant coach Kevin has coached 3 NCAA Division II - Players of the Year and 12 NCAA All-Americans. Kevin has also served as head tryout coach for the Olympic Festival and an evaluator for the Junior and Youth National Teams for three seasons. Phone Number:Email: dhuber@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Dave is in his 7th season coaching at Goldenwest Volleyball Club and in addition to coaching our 15 Asics team will be the club administrator in regards to accounting. He is in his fifth year as Head Coach of the Girls Volleyball Programs at Los Alamitos High School. This past season Dave's Los Alamitos High School squad captured the CIF-SS Division IA championship. He is a former Div. 1 college player at Long Beach State University where he was an outside hitter and we are pleased to have his coaching experience back on staff. |

Phone Number:Email: echidester@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Erika is currently in her 2nd season as the 1st Assistant for the Cal State Long Beach Women's Volleyball Program. As a player at CSULB Erika was selected 1st Team Big West three times, while completing her Degree in Sociology. She has been a coach at Goldenwest for 5 seasons and worked at various age levels. Her teams have had a history of competing at Junior Olympics including the 18 Open in 2009 and 17 American last year. Erika's coaching stops include Cal Jrs VBC, Lakewood High School, and the University of La Verne where she was the Graduate Assistant and received a Master's Degree in Business. Her final season at La Verne her team was the runner-up for the Division III National Championship. |

Phone Number: Email: iowens@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Isaac is in his 6th season as Head Coach of both the Girl's and Boy's Programs at Esperanza High School where he is a History Teacher. He has been actively coaching volleyball since 1989, where he began as an assistant at his Alma Mater Huntington Beach High School. He has been named Orange County Register Coach of the Year in both 2002 and 2007 when he won CIF Championships at Esperanza. In Isaac's 22 years of coaching he has worked at clubs such as Magnum VBC, Asics Nova, Power VBC, Laguna Beach VBC as well as being one of the original coaches for Goldenwest Volleyball Club! |

Phone Number: Email: agarcia@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: This will be Art's first season at Goldenwest Volleyball Club, but Art began coaching volleyball in 1981. He has worked at St. Joseph's High School, St. John Bosco, Pasadena City College, Long Beach City College, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Concordia University and others. Art has also worked with both the Men and Women's USA Teams in the past 15 years. Art is currently the Head Boy's Coach at Foothill High School and coaching the Freshman Girl's team as well, while also volunteering as an Assistant at Fullerton College…. Art loves volleyball and has incredible energy for the sport. |

Phone Number: Email: jchavez@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Jaclyn is in her second season as the Head of the Girls Volleyball Program at the newly built Yorba Linda High School, after serving as Esperanza's girl's JV coach and Varsity Assistant since she graduated from EHS in 2002. She is one of the up and coming coaches in the sport of Volleyball. This will be her 7th season coaching at Golden West Volleyball Club. Jaclyn graduated from Long Beach State where she majored in Mathematics. She is a credentialed teacher and teaches math at Yorba Linda High School in addition to coaching. |

Phone Number: Email: mwadley@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: This past season Mike Wadley completed his 15th season at Lakewood High School. Over the last six years he has had 14 All-CIF, 11 All-Americans and 3 Fab-Fifty players suite up in a Lancer uniform. There have been 13 student/athletes signing at: Long Beach State (3), Pepperdine, UNLV, University of Miami, University of Illinois, University of Great Falls, Wyoming, Utah, Missouri State, CSUF and CSUDH respectively. His girl's teams have enjoyed the most recent success with the last six varsity teams advancing to the CIF SS-IAA Quarter-Finals with three of those teams advancing to the Semi-Finals. Those teams have an overall record of 155 wins with 56 losses. The 2007 team finished with a ranking of #21 out of roughly 5,000 from Prep Volleyball and a #9 National Ranking from Max Preps. The 2008 team started off the year being ranked as the #1 team in the nation by ESPN Rise magazine and did not disappoint. This will be Mike's first season at Goldenwest VBC and the club will benefit greatly from his experience. |

Liz played 4 years here at GW, winning a bronze medal as a 15's player and competed in the OPEN as a senior in 2009. She is currently playing locally at Concordia University and is a great beach player as well. |

She is a graduate of Long Beach State where she was a setter. After graduating from LBSU, Jillian went overseas to play professionally in both Switzerland and Spain. She is currently an Assistant Coach at Goldenwest College, and has been the past two seasons. Prior to GW College she was an Assistant Coach locally at Los Alamitos High School. |

Phone Number: Email: cbriceno@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Carlos graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1985, earned a Scholarship to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 1990 he graduated from the University of Hawaii with a BA in Communications. He also achieved All-American honors in volleyball his sophomore, junior, and senior years. In 1991 he joined the National Team and earned a spot on the 1992 Olympic Team that eventually won a Bronze Medal at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. In 1993 he left the National Team and began playing on the beach. Carlos captained Team OP on the Bud-Light Four Man Tour and concomitantly played doubles on the FIVB Tour. While on the FIVB Tour he won the Silver Medal at the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg, Russia and a Silver Medal at the World Championships in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. After six years of playing professionally on the beach he retired and enrolled at Azusa Pacific University earning a Master of Science degree in Physical Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration. Carlos has been teaching Physical Education at Lindbergh Middle School for the past 12 years. He has been coaching junior girls for the past 10 years, his 3rd with Goldenwest Volleyball Club. |

After High School she continued playing at Fullerton College winning an Orange Empire Conference Championship in 2006. This will be Courtney's fourth season at Golden West Volleyball Club and fifth season coaching club overall having also coached at Protégé VBC. In 2009, Courtney was the Assistant Coach on our 13 Asics team that finished 5th at Junior Olympics in Miami. She has also been the Varsity Assistant Coach at Canyon High School for the past two seasons. |

Phone Number:Email: dkawa@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Doug is currently in his second season as the Head Coach at Sunny Hills High School and Volunteer Assistant at Fullerton College. He played four years of varsity volleyball at Bishop Amat High School starting at setter and opposite hitter. He received All-League Honors all four years as well as the Team MVP each season. Doug played club volleyball for four years at Foothill Volleyball Club in Upland. After graduating from Bishop Amat in 2001, Coach Kawa went on to Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA and graduated with a B.A. in International Business in 2005. Doug has previously coached at Bishop Amat High School and Crean Lutheran South High School. He is also currently attending Azusa Pacific University studying for a Masters of Science in Physical Education. This is his second season at Goldenwest Volleyball Club. |

Phone Number: Email: braynor@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Brooke has a variety of experience both playing and coaching volleyball. She has been involved in volleyball for eight years, including four years of club and two years of college play. Brooke won a gold medal at the Junior Olympic Invitational in 2004 and 2 years ago competed for the State Championships with Fullerton College. For two years she coached the boys JV and assisted the Varsity volleyball team at Cypress high school. Both years her team was Empire league champions. This will be Brooke's third year at Goldenwest and her team returned from the Reno Festival as 2008 Character Division Winners. She is a well rounded, energetic coach whose enthusiasm for the sport is imparted to those who play for her. |

Phone Number: Email: lopp@goldenwestvbc.com Quick Bio: Lynnette Opp played volleyball at both El Modena and Esperanza High School, where she earned repeated all league, all County, and all CIF honors. She earned a full volleyball scholarship to Georgia Tech, where she helped the Yellow Jackets win an ACC Championship as a starting outside hitter. Lynnette recently moved back to Orange County with her 3 children. She coached with Isaac Owens at Esperanza High School this year, and is excited to continue coaching at Goldenwest. |
